Why Solar Now

The numbers make sense.

Commercial solar is one of the few capital investments that pays for itself, then continues paying for decades.

3-7 Year Payback

Typical commercial solar pays for itself in 3-7 years. After that, free energy for the remaining 20+ years.

STC Rebate

Federal Small-scale Technology Certificates reduce upfront cost on systems up to 100kW. Worth thousands.

Daylight Match

Most businesses use the most power during sunlight hours — exactly when solar generates the most.

Scope-2 Reduction

Cuts your electricity-sourced emissions immediately. Helps with ESG reporting, tender requirements, NABERS ratings.

Property Value

Commercial properties with solar attract higher rents and resale values. Increasingly required by tenants.

Energy Independence

Reduce exposure to grid price spikes. Lock in your energy cost for the next 25 years.

Who Uses Solar

Industries where commercial solar delivers strongest ROI.

Warehouses

Large flat roofs + daytime operations = perfect solar match. 100kW-1MW+ common.

Offices

9-5 operations align perfectly with solar generation. 30-100kW systems typical.

Retail

High daytime power use for lighting, refrigeration, HVAC. Excellent solar fit.

Healthcare

24/7 power needs + critical loads = solar + battery + hybrid systems.

Education

Large rooftop area, daytime use. Solar plus battery for after-hours and weekends.

Hospitality

Hotels, motels and venues — pairs with EV charging for hybrid revenue.

Common Questions

FAQs — commercial solar.

What size solar system does my business need?
System size depends on roof area, daytime power consumption and budget. Most small commercial sites suit 10-30kW; medium businesses 30-100kW; large warehouses 100kW-1MW+. Comstel models your actual usage from 12 months of bills to size precisely.
What's the difference between a string inverter and microinverters?
String inverters convert DC from a whole string of panels at one central unit — cheaper but if one panel underperforms (shade, dirt), the whole string drops. Microinverters work per-panel — higher yield, panel-level monitoring, ideal for partial shade or complex roofs, but cost more.
How long do solar panels last?
Tier-1 commercial panels carry a 25-30 year linear performance warranty, typically degrading less than 0.5% per year. Most systems are still producing 85%+ of original output after 25 years.
Do I need a battery from day one?
Not necessarily. Many businesses start with solar-only and add a battery later. Comstel can install battery-ready systems so adding storage in year 2 or 3 is straightforward.
What happens to excess solar energy?
Excess solar is either fed back to the grid for feed-in tariff credits, stored in your battery for evening use, or diverted to high-use loads like EV charging or hot water. Comstel designs to maximise self-consumption.
