COMSTEL TV

Comstel TV · IPTV Australia

You are now paying extra to not watch ads

Ad-free used to be what you bought. On almost every service Australians pay for, it has quietly become the upgrade — and IPTV in Australia is the one setup that never asked you for it.

Comstel ICT · Entertainment & IPTV · September 2026

Count the ads in a normal evening. Two pre-rolls and three mid-rolls on YouTube before the clip you actually opened. A break in the middle of a catch-up episode you have already seen the ads for twice. Then a streaming app reminding you that the cheaper plan you are on is the one with commercials, and the quiet suggestion that a few dollars more a month makes them go away.

None of that is an accident. Advertising is no longer the price of free television. It is the price of the cheap tier, which means the industry has found a way to charge you twice — once for the subscription, then again to remove the thing it added to the subscription.

Ad-free used to be the product. Now it is the upsell.

That is the frame worth keeping in mind when you look at what a Comstel TV Box actually does. It is not just a cheaper way to watch more channels. It is a setup where nobody is holding your viewing hostage against a monthly upgrade.

The ad tax, in plain terms

Every major paid service now runs the same playbook. There is a lower price with advertising in it, and a higher price without. The content is identical. The only difference between the two tiers is whether you are interrupted.

Cheaper tier Ad-free tier
Video platforms Pre-roll and mid-roll ads Costs more each month
Major streaming apps Breaks inside episodes Costs more each month
Sports streaming Ads plus sponsor overlays Rarely offered at all
Catch-up TV apps Unskippable breaks Not available
Comstel TV on-demand One library. No ad tier, no upgrade, no break in the middle of the film.

Look down that middle column and the pattern is obvious. You are not buying content any more. You are renting the absence of interruption, month after month, on four or five separate bills.

Multiply it out across a household that keeps two or three subscriptions live, and the ad-free premium on its own becomes a meaningful annual number — for nothing you did not already think you had paid for.

What IPTV in Australia actually is

IPTV means television delivered over your internet connection instead of a satellite dish, a cable or a set-top box tied to one provider. Your NBN, fibre, 4G or 5G service carries the channels. A small box plugs into the HDMI port on the TV you already own, and the picture arrives the same way a video call or a streaming app does.

The difference from a streaming app is scope. A streaming service gives you one company’s library and one company’s rules. An IPTV service gives you a channel list — thousands of live channels from around the world, plus a very large on-demand library — through a single interface with a single remote.

The COMSTEL TV 6K Entertainment Box is our version of that. It runs Android 10 on a quad-core H616 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, outputs up to 4096 × 2160 at 60Hz, and supports HDR and multi-screen viewing. It ships from Sydney, it is sold openly under our own SKU, and it is supported by an Australian team on 1300 070 747.

  • 9,034Live TV channels on the feed
  • 100+Countries represented
  • 73,000+On-demand movies
  • 4,000+TV series

The full breakdown sits on our IPTV channel list for Australia — 4,039 channels across Europe, 2,250 across the Americas, 1,186 through the Middle East, 819 across Asia, 641 across Africa, 32 in the Pacific and 67 premium sport pay-per-view channels.

Where the ads genuinely stop

We would rather be precise than loud about this, because it is the whole argument.

  • The on-demand library plays straight through. Start a film from the 73,000-title catalogue and it runs to the end. No pre-roll, no mid-roll, no countdown telling you the show resumes in fifteen seconds.
  • There is no ad-supported tier, so there is nothing to upgrade out of. One price, one level of access. You are not being sorted into the cheap plan that gets interrupted.
  • Comstel inserts nothing. We do not sell advertising into the feed, and there is no sponsored row on the home screen steering you somewhere we get paid for.
  • Nothing is watching you to sell you something. Your viewing is not being profiled into an advertising audience segment.
  • Live channels still carry their own broadcaster’s breaks. A live sports channel from overseas airs whatever that broadcaster airs — that is what live television is, anywhere in the world. The ad-free part of this is the on-demand library and the absence of a paywall on the privilege.

That last point matters. A provider that promises literally zero advertising on nine thousand live channels is promising something no one can deliver, and we would rather you hear it from us than find out on the couch.

Australian free-to-air, handled properly

This is the other place where accuracy beats marketing. Australian free-to-air channels — ABC, SBS, Seven, Nine and Ten, and their multichannels — are not carried on the IPTV feed. They are not ours to retransmit, and any Australian seller telling you otherwise is selling you a problem.

What actually happens is better than it sounds, because the box does not remove them from your television. It sits alongside them.

  1. Your antenna keeps workingFree-to-air comes through your TV’s own tuner exactly as it does today. Switch HDMI input and you are back on Seven or the ABC in a second.
  2. The official apps run on the boxBecause it is an Android device, iView, 7plus, 9Now and 10 play install and run on it. Every Australian network’s own catch-up service, on the same remote as everything else.
  3. One device covers the whole pictureLocal news and local sport from the networks; nine thousand international channels and the on-demand library from the IPTV feed. Nothing is missing from the room.

Why we say it this way

Plenty of IPTV listings in Australia advertise free-to-air inclusion they cannot legally provide. We publish our channel list in full, including what is not on it, so you can check the thing before you buy it rather than after.

Full control of what you watch

Take the advertising argument away for a moment and there is a second thing that has quietly gone missing from modern television: control. Not the remote. The actual decision about what appears in front of you.

Streaming home screens are merchandising surfaces. The row order is a commercial decision. The big tile at the top is a commercial decision. Autoplay is a commercial decision. You open the app to watch one thing and spend eleven minutes being marketed at by a carousel.

  • Channels, not feeds

A numbered list you scroll and select. The same mental model as a TV guide, because it worked.

  • Your own favourites

Build the shortlist that matters to your household and ignore the other 8,900 channels entirely.

  • Films on demand

73,000+ titles you choose from directly, rather than whatever the algorithm decided to promote tonight.

  • Series, in order

4,000+ series with full seasons, so nobody has to hunt across three apps for episode six.

  • Sport from the source

Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga, Champions League, NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and IPL cricket among more than 1,500 sport channels.

  • Language and community

Arabic, Farsi, Hindi, Korean, Greek, Italian, Spanish and dozens more — the largest Arabic channel library we know of in Australia.

For households where the television is a connection to somewhere else — a grandparent who wants the news from home, a family keeping a language alive in the kids — that channel list is not a luxury feature. It is the entire reason the box is in the house.

What it costs

One purchase, then a small subscription after the first year. No lock-in contract, no bundled ad-free premium, no annual price review letter.

Put that against a household running several subscriptions where each one is charging a premium purely to stop interrupting you, and the comparison stops being close.

What you need to run it

A television with a spare HDMI port, and an internet connection that is stable rather than merely fast. Streaming is unforgiving of drop-outs in a way that web browsing is not, so consistency matters more than a headline speed.

  • Any NBN, fibre, 4G or 5G service. No VPN required, and no separate account with anyone else.
  • Wi-Fi works; Ethernet is better if the router is close, particularly for 4K.
  • More than one heavy stream at once, or a household that also works from home, is where a weak connection shows up — and that is usually the connection, not the box.

If you are not sure your connection is up to it, that is a conversation worth having before you order rather than after. We do free audits, and we would rather sort the internet first.

Setting it up

Under five minutes, without anyone visiting your house.

  1. Plug it inHDMI cable into the TV, power adapter into the wall. Select the HDMI input on your TV remote.
  2. Connect to your networkJoin your Wi-Fi from the on-screen menu, or plug in an Ethernet cable if the router is within reach.
  3. Sign in to the serviceYour access details come with the box. Enter them once and the channel list loads.
  4. Add the apps you wantiView, 7plus, 9Now, 10 play or anything else you already use, so the whole household is on one remote.

Is IPTV legal in Australia?

Yes. Comstel ICT is an Australian-owned business, registered and trading since 2015, and the COMSTEL TV Box is sold openly under our own SKU (IPTVCOMSTEL) from a North Sydney office with a published address and phone number. The box ships from Sydney with full Australian support and a 12-month warranty.

The practical test is the one worth applying to any IPTV seller in Australia: can you find the company, call a landline, read the channel list before you pay, and get someone accountable on the phone when the picture drops out? If the answer to any of those is no, the price is not the problem.

Where we will talk you out of it

This will not suit everyone, and we would rather say so than process a return.

  • If you only watch free-to-air. Your antenna and the catch-up apps already do that, free. A box that unlocks 9,000 channels is wasted on a household that watches four.
  • If your whole viewing life is one streaming app. One subscription, one library, no complaints — leave it alone.
  • If you need Australian rights-held sport. Domestic leagues sold exclusively to an Australian broadcaster live with that broadcaster. International sport is where this box is genuinely strong.
  • If your internet is already struggling. Fix the connection first. Adding a 4K stream to a line that cannot hold a video call will not end well, and we would rather quote you on the internet than sell you a box that disappoints.
