Quick answers about Fixed Wireless.
How is Fixed Wireless different from regular NBN?+
Fixed Wireless connects your home via a radio link to an NBN tower rather than a fibre or copper cable into your premises. It serves homes in regional and outer-metro areas where fixed-line NBN was not rolled out. An outdoor antenna mounted on your roof receives the signal and connects to an indoor NBN connection box.
Is Fixed Wireless available at my address?+
Fixed Wireless is only available at premises within an NBN Fixed Wireless service area — primarily regional and outer-metro Australia. The premises also needs line-of-sight to the nearest NBN tower. Call 1300 070 747 and we’ll confirm eligibility for your address.
Which Fixed Wireless plan is right for my home?+
As a guide: single users and small households with light streaming suit the 100/20 plan at $99/mo. Families with 4K streaming and work-from-home setups suit the 250/20 plan at $119/mo. Power users running multiple devices and bandwidth-heavy applications suit the 400/40 plan at $129/mo.
What hardware is required?+
Fixed Wireless requires an NBN-supplied outdoor antenna mounted on your roof and an indoor NBN Connection Box, both installed by an NBN technician at a scheduled appointment. You also need a Wi-Fi router to connect your devices — we’ll quote the right one for your plan.
Can I use Fixed Wireless if I rent?+
Yes, but installation involves mounting an antenna on the roof. Permission from your landlord is required before NBN can install the equipment. We’ll help with the paperwork if needed.
Prices include GST. Availability depends on NBN Fixed Wireless coverage at your address and line-of-sight to the nearest NBN tower. Speeds shown are NBN Co wholesale maximums — typical evening speeds may vary based on antenna alignment, weather, tower congestion and in-premises Wi-Fi conditions.
