When Tech Meets Design: Comstel ICT at the BDAA National Conference 2025

From 30 October to 1 November 2025, the Comstel ICT team proudly joined the Building Designers Association of Australia (BDAA) National Conference at the stunning Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort, Queensland.

This annual event brings together Australia’s most talented building designers, architects, suppliers, and industry innovators — and this year’s conference was all about creativity, collaboration, and connection.

For Comstel ICT, it was the perfect opportunity to share our passion for business technology and connectivity solutions that empower the design and construction industry to work smarter, faster, and more efficiently.

The Power of Connection

In today’s digital world, design doesn’t stop at creativity. It extends into communication, collaboration, and connectivity.

Architects and building designers now rely on seamless access to online tools — from 3D modeling software and cloud storage to video conferencing and real-time data sharing. Reliable technology and internet connections aren’t luxuries anymore; they’re essentials.

That’s where Comstel ICT comes in.

We help Australian businesses stay connected through:

  • Business-grade NBN and fibre internet for speed and reliability.

  • Cloud phone systems that keep teams connected from anywhere.

  • Mobile broadband and Wi-Fi solutions for flexible work environments.

  • IoT and network setups for smarter, safer workplaces.

Our mission is simple — to make technology easy, accessible, and empowering for small to medium businesses across Australia.

A Community of Innovators

Walking into the BDAA National Conference felt like stepping into a hub of ideas.

Everywhere you turned, there were conversations about sustainable architecture, innovative design tools, and how to balance creativity with technology.

From the very first handshake, we could feel the shared energy. Designers talked about new materials, suppliers showcased eco-friendly innovations, and industry leaders discussed the growing role of digital tools in construction.

We spoke with professionals who manage large building projects, often spread across cities and regions. Many told us that connectivity — both in terms of data and communication — is one of their biggest daily challenges.

One designer summed it up perfectly:

“If my Wi-Fi drops during a client presentation, it’s not just a tech issue — it’s a credibility issue.”

That comment hit home. It reinforced what we’ve always believed at Comstel ICT: technology isn’t just about hardware and data. It’s about trust — giving businesses the confidence to perform at their best, no matter where they are.

Thursday Trade Show: Tech Meets Creativity

The conference officially kicked off with the Thursday Trade Show and Networking Night, setting the stage for a weekend of innovation.

Dozens of exhibitors filled the resort’s event space — from building suppliers to technology providers, each showcasing products and solutions that make design and construction smarter.

For the Comstel ICT team, it was an opportunity to demonstrate how smart connectivity can transform the way the design industry operates.

We spoke to design firms about integrating cloud communication systems that allow their teams to take calls and collaborate on the go. We discussed how IoT networks can improve project management, from monitoring energy usage to tracking assets on-site.

Our message was simple:
When your systems talk to each other — and to you — everything works better.

Friday Night: The Peaky Blinders Party

Of course, all work and no play wouldn’t be the Comstel way!

Friday night’s Peaky Blinders-themed networking event at the Boston Shaker Bar was a highlight of the conference.

The venue transformed into a 1920s dream — suspenders, flat caps, feathers, pearls, jazz tunes, and an endless supply of laughter.

As a proud event partner and partial drinks sponsor, the Comstel ICT team enjoyed mingling with attendees in style. There’s something special about seeing people relax and connect after a day of business discussions — and yes, a few of our team members might have shown off their best dance moves!

The night was full of stories, laughter, and camaraderie. Conversations that began at the trade show turned into friendships. That’s what makes BDAA events so powerful — it’s not just networking; it’s building relationships that last.

Celebrating Style: Best Dressed Winners

To keep the fun going, Comstel ICT and Vodafone Business Centre North Sydney hosted a Best Dressed Competition — rewarding those who truly embodied the Peaky Blinders spirit.

The winners? The stylish duo Clyde Anderson and Jane [Surname] — whose outfits were straight out of 1920s Birmingham.

They didn’t just look the part; they owned the room.

As a reward, each received a TP-Link 4G LTE Mobile Wi-Fi M7000, one of Comstel ICT’s most popular mobile broadband devices.

Compact, fast, and reliable, this handy little gadget lets users share 4G internet with up to 10 devices — perfect for design professionals who need connectivity on the move.

Because when you’re building Australia’s future, staying connected should be as easy as pressing “on.”

More Than Just Tech – It’s About People

While the costumes and cocktails were unforgettable, the heart of the weekend was still about connection — the human kind.

We met so many inspiring professionals who reminded us that behind every blueprint and building facade are people with ideas, challenges, and dreams.

Some were small business owners balancing multiple projects. Others were large design firms managing national portfolios. Yet everyone shared the same goal — to make their processes smoother, faster, and more collaborative.

That’s exactly what Comstel ICT aims to support.

By providing reliable connectivity and communication systems, we give businesses the digital foundation they need to focus on what matters most — their craft.

A Weekend of Inspiration

As the event wrapped up on Saturday, we left with more than business cards and new contacts. We left inspired.

Inspired by the passion of the design community.
Inspired by the creativity of people who turn empty spaces into meaningful places.
Inspired by the potential of technology to help bring those visions to life.

At Comstel ICT, we believe innovation isn’t just about faster Wi-Fi or smarter phones — it’s about empowering people to do more.

And that’s what the BDAA National Conference 2025 reminded us of.

Why Events Like This Matter

The world of design and construction is changing fast. Remote collaboration, smart devices, and cloud-based tools are now part of everyday business.

Events like the BDAA Conference allow professionals to explore new ideas, share experiences, and build relationships that keep the industry strong.

For us, it was also a chance to listen. To understand what challenges businesses face when it comes to connectivity — and to find better ways to help.

Because when technology works seamlessly in the background, creativity thrives in the foreground.
